I was standing in the Field of Miracles in Pisa. Looking back from where I had emerged, was the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. You either love it or hate it, you are either impressed or disappointed. The Leaning Tower of Pisa has that specific Marmite reaction. So if you are planning to go and see it… please go with absolutely no expectations. I did exactly that. So there I was looking back at the tower in front of the cathedral and the Duomo was to my side. I was impressed. It is one of the most beautiful and elegant towers I have ever seen, but the thing that caught my attention most was that on our way towards the tower, you could clearly see it was leaning. But from the back, standing in the Field of Miracles it appeared to be stood up straight without a care in the world. No longer leaning dubiously unsure if it’s going to fall.
If you are wondering whether you should make the extra effort to include the Field of Miracles in your Italian itinerary, I would 100% say yes. Not only is it an icon but the area is also very nice to just walk around, relax and take a breath.
